Toby Harris CURATOR OF ORAL HISTORY ALASKA & POLAR REGIONS COLLECTIONS UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Libraries seek a creative and energetic Curator of Oral History to develop, manage, and promote oral history collections in the Alaska & Polar Regions Collections (APR), one of the world's pre-eminent resources for Alaskana and Arctic/Antarctic materials. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, under the lead of the APR Department Head, the Curator of Oral History is responsible for the current collection of over 10,000 oral history recordings which include significant Alaska Native recordings. The Curator develops and implements new collecting initiatives to document the history of Alaskan peoples, political life, history, and culture, and oversees preservation, access, and delivery of collections to a broad and dispersed constituency. A core duty is the management of Project Jukebox <http://jukebox.uaf.edu/site/>, a contextualized web-based delivery site for oral history. This is a twelve-month tenure-track faculty appointment. As a Unit Head in APR, this position directs a staff of 4 FTE and is responsible for supervision and evaluation of project and permanent staff. As faculty, the Curator of Oral History engages in research, publication, service, and teaching activities to meet tenure expectations.
