"Jewish Soul" features world renown artists who have achieved world
wide fame in the fields of Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Classical,
Opera, and Popular music.

The universal appeal of Jewish music is as old as Tin Pan Alley as is
exemplified by the fact that the inspiration for this compilation
came from two artists that were not known as "Jewish recording
artists", Jackie Wilson, known as "Mr. Excitement",and Billy Johnson,
a member of the famous 50's R & B group, "The Moonglows" who grew up
in Cleveland listening to Mickey Katz recordings.

Selections include a soulful "Yiddishe Mame" by Tom Jones, Connie
Francis performing "Tzena Tzena" from her best selling Jewish album
and Eddie Fisher's #1 hit, "Oh My Papa." Jay & The Americans, who
were often assumed to be an Italian R & B group, perform a moving
version of "Where Is The Village" ("Vi Iz Dos Gesele") in Yiddish & English.

Only Eartha Kitt can sing "Rumania, Rumania" in YIDDISH and make it
sexy and hilarious at the same time, while Jackie Wilson performs an
amazing version of the Jolson classic, "The Anniversary Song."

Included is the 1958 national Top 40 hit "Dance Everyone Dance," an
English version of the classic "Hava Nagila" by Betty Madigan.

Other artists include, Andy Williams, Jan Peerce, Yaffa Yarkoni and
Netania Davrath. See complete track listing below.

Eight page booklet with photos of the artists and lots of little
known information on the artists and the songs, and a few surprises
as well. Enjoy!!!
