I had exact same experience (word for word) and booked Saturday night at the rate Elliot has indicated. I also was supposed to get a call from the manager, but it did not happen. Perhaps they allocated far less rooms for Friday and Saturday than for the other nights of the convention, or maybe there is a miscommunication somewhere there...
