Stacia Deutsch, "Hot Pursuit: Murder in Mississippi" -- It was the
Freedom Summer of 1964. Civil rights workers  Mickey  Schwerner, Andrew
Goodman, and James  Cheney were driving through rural Mississippi. When
a police cruiser flashed its lights behind them, they hesitated. Were
these law-abiding officers or members of the Ku Klux Klan?  Should they
pull over or try to outrun their pursuers? The last day in the lives of
these courageous young men is re-imagined in this gripping story. Stacia
Deutsch is a rabbi and has published more than 23 children's books,
including the NY Times best-selling novelization "Cloudy with a Chance
of Meatballs."

Meg Wiviott, "Benno and the Night of Broken Glass" -- A neighborhood cat
observes the changes in German and Jewish families in Berlin during the
period leading up to Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. The cat's
eye view introduces the Holocaust to children in a gentle way that can
open discussion of this period. This book received a starred review in
Booklist.

Deborah Lakritz, "Say Hello, Lily" -- On Lily's first visit to Shalom
House, she clings closely to her mom, overwhelmed by all the new faces
of the seniors who live there. But slowly Lily joins the activities,
makes new friends, and celebrates a birthday to remember. Author
presentation is a wonderful program for children and grandparents.

Norman H. Finkelstein, "Jewish Comedy Stars: Classic to Cutting Edge"--
 >From vaudeville to viral comedy on the web, short biographies of Jewish
comedians who heavily influenced the entertainment industry in the 20th
and 21st centuries. Sorted chronologically, the book profiles Jewish
comedians from Georgie Jessel to Sarah Silverman.

Heidi Smith Hyde, "Feivel's Flying Horses" -- A loving father carves
carousel horses that resemble members of his family as he saves money to
bring them over from Europe. A work of historical fiction based on the
stories of Jewish woodcarvers who came from the Old Country and turned
their talents to carving carousel horses on Coney Island. Heidi's first
book, "Mendel's Accordion," was a Sydney Taylor Notable Book and the
winner of the Sugarman Award for Best Children's Book.
