I'm glad I was able to be of some assistance. Yes, Esther Kreitman's story
is a very sad one. It is unfortunately true, and was especially so in her
day, that women authors weren't given the respect they deserved or taken
seriously, as for example, her two younger brothers were. I can o
financial support for the library could include staff, books, supplies,
programming..many libraries already operate with volunteer staff and
rely on donations for books. That's not really supporting the library.

Clarification:
My question was directed to the issue of promoting use,and programming to that
end, not to the basic needs such as supplies and having a librarian. Those were
a given.
