Shalom Saframin,

Waves of Memory - a new documentary by Gad Aisen

Significant historical events merge with personal memories in this beautiful
documentary. The story here is about escaping WWII Europe and getting safely
to the shores of Israel, a country still in the making. On December 7, 1946
the immigrant ship Rafiach, making its way from Yugoslavia, sank near the
barren Greek island of Syrina. Most of the illegal immigrants survived and
were rescued a few days later. On board the ship was a 12-day-old baby that
survived along with his parents. 66 years later, a journey to his roots
leads Shlomo, that baby, to discover more details about the true story of
the drowning.

Using beautifully animated sequences, we also learn about Mossad agent
Abraham Lichovski who saved the immigrants. His character emerges from the
shadows and tells the story as written his own hidden reports for the first
time on screen.

In her recent review, blogger Amy Kronish writes: "It always amazes me that
there are still new and powerful Holocaust stories being uncovered. Today I
had an amazing experience watching the documentary film,Waves of Memory,
directed by Gad Aisen."
