Heidi and others interested in baby storytimes, I recommend you look into Mother Goose on the Loose, baby and toddler (birth to 3) storytime program that is used in many public library systems. It is a 30 minute, structured program incorporating rhymes, music, movement, books, puppets, and most importantly parent-child bonding. Dr. Betsy-Diamant Cohen, the program's creator, also has a Hebrew CD with rhymes and songs: Imma Avaza http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bdcr2
I can't recommend this program enough, as I attended the program as a mother with my baby, and later led the program as a librarian. There is a manual and CDs from which you can learn the program and many, many songs, rhymes, bounces, fingerplays that are perfect for this age. Betsy Diamant-Cohen also leads workshops around the country. For more info, see http://www.mgol.org/ To answer your question about incorporating parent-child reading time into the program, I have done this by having books for this age group readily available before and after the program (not in the middle of a program) . Before the program I have sometimes had board books on the floor to mark where parent/child pairs might sit, and after the program I have handed out board books along with age-appropriate toys, advertised as part of "stay and play" time. This time after the program is important for parents to socialize with other new parents, interact with the librarian, and another chance for the librarian to model reading and other playful interaction with baby.
