Oh Globetrotter's binary droppings is just chock-full of low-hanging
fruit to hate, but today I'm going to pick on something I presume is
Globetrotter's fault: their license-cutting software.

See, in order to discourage you from stealing these fancy tools that
engineers use, you need a "licence", which is a text file emailed to
you. And since that license file is cut with respect to a particular
server, the license file includes that information in the header,
for example:

# Customer Name:RICH SUCKER CO
# Server Name:myserver
# Server Location:Canada
# Host Id:001122334455

...but then in the line that matters, the one which tells the lmgrd to
run against:

#######################################################################
# INSTRUCTIONS
#######################################################################
# 1. Please replace "Cadence_SERVER" with hostname of your machine
# in line "SERVER Cadence_SERVER <hostid> 9999".

SERVER Cadence_SERVER 001122334455 9999

...as in, the provisioning IS smart enough to put the host ID into the
SERVER line, but ISN'T smart enough to put the host name INTO THE SAME
DAMN LINE.

...which of course means, your license manager can't start, because
odds are "Cadence_SERVER" isn't resolvable.

Now this example comes from a particular tools vendor who shall rename
nameless, but I'm sure I've seen similar nonsense from other vendors.

And it's been this way for at least TEN DAMN YEARS.
