hamzas/maddahs, etc in vernacular arabic records

do you have any policy about hamzas, maddas, etc. in vernacular arabic records. Do you routinely enter them? I have been discussing this with our new cataloger as well. words like islam and insan certainly look funny without the hamzas. any thoughts? david David G. Hirsch Middle East Bibliogr
