I have pre existing commitments today. That said, if it were a kernel
issue, shouldn't I have had this problem when booting into the install
medium?

Unfortunately I actually used to have gnome installed, but since I was
having this problem I decided to remove it so that I could
reinstall/reinitialize faster...
I have also tried pressing return a bunch after the trace finishes
scrolling. Tried once more for good measure, but no luck.

It seems that I am having issues on startup after the install... But I've
