A pokel is a list of poked locations, that is, memory locations that
have been modified

Briefly, it is a way to remember modifications to memory regions. For

'I have tried out the translator-mechanismus from the example given in
www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-doc-translator,
but I get the message: Translator died.Here is the set-up:
dd if=dev/zero of=dummy.fs bs=1024k count=8
mke2fs dummy.fs
settrans -c dummy /hurd/ext2fs 'pwd' /dummy.fs
