I had the exact same issue. so I replaced handle_asynchronously :solr_index with: after_save :sunspot_commit def sunspot_commit send_later :index_and_solr_index end def index_and_solr_index index! solr_index end and I know have what I expect. not sure why this needs to be done that way and
