Antara bantahan dan kritikan yang disyorkan ialah : 1. Penyertaan PLKN untuk wanita adalah secara sukarela, bukan dipaksa. 2. Jurulatih-jurulatih PLKN hendaklah mempunyai sijil latihan khusus yang diiktiraf oleh institut latihan yang diiktiraf diperingkat nasional dan antarabangsa. 3. Jurulatih-jurulatih PLKN hendaklah mengamalkan gaya hidup sihat antaranya tidak merokok, tidak minum minuman keras, tidak menggunakan kata-kata kesat dan lucah, tidak mengamalkan makanan segera dan sebagainya. 4. Pemeriksaan kesihatan lengkap hendaklah dilakukan keatas semua bakal pelatih dan dibiayai sepenuhnya oleh kerajaan termasuk kos x-ray, ujian air kencing dan sebagainya. 5. Semua pelatih-pelatih PLKN dikehendakki menjalani ujian dadah, ujian HIV dan lain-lain penyakit kronik dan berjangkit. 6. PETALING JAYA: The public have been invited to give their opinion on what can be done to improve the health, safety and welfare of all National Service trainees. National Service Training Council chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has called on all concerned to write to him personally and offer their views or suggestions. This follows the setting up of a technical committee to study the issue of improving medical facilities for the trainees. Comments can be faxed to me at 03-2687 3555, he said in a statement. Lee said he wanted to see specific proposals, which he would forward to the technical committee that was set up on Monday. Since the committee has to complete its report in two weeks, I hope the comments from parents can be sent to me as soon as possible, he said. Meanwhile, the National Service Training Department said the first batch of trainees would conclude their training on March 11. A closing ceremony will be held on March 10. The trainees will be sent to their respective disembarkation points from March 11, the department said in a statement. The department said that the second batch of trainees, numbering 35,046 nationwide, would start their training on March 18. The documents trainees have to fill up are being sent out via Pos Malaysia.
