NS council seeks feedback

The Star 8 March 2007. PETALING JAYA: The public have
been invited to give their opinion on what can be done
to improve the health, safety and welfare of all
National Service trainees.

National Service Training Council chairman Tan Sri Lee
Lam Thye has called on all concerned to write to him
personally and offer their views or suggestions.

This follows the setting up of a technical committee
to study the issue of improving medical facilities for
the trainees.

“Comments can be faxed to me at 03-2687 3555,” he said
in a statement.

Lee said he wanted to see specific proposals, which he
would forward to the technical committee that was set
up on Monday.

“Since the committee has to complete its report in two
weeks, I hope the comments from parents can be sent to
me as soon as possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Service Training Department
said the first batch of trainees would conclude their
training on March 11.

A closing ceremony will be held on March 10.

“The trainees will be sent to their respective
disembarkation points from March 11,” the department
said in a statement.

The department said that the second batch of trainees,
numbering 35,046 nationwide, would start their
training on March 18.

The documents trainees have to fill up are being sent
out via Pos Malaysia.

The department also said that for the first time,
transportation of the trainees would be done over two
days (March 17 and 18).
