For those of you who have a Symphony, how do you wick your slides? Do you cut
them and put them in a basket to drain and then transfer to the trays? Do you

Are there any regulations specifying any difference of holding blocks/slides
for peds cases? Are they treated the same as adults cases and held 10-12 years
or are they needed to be kept longer?

I am currently redesigning our GI lab. I wanted everyone's opinion on if you
could redesign your lab, what would you change/add/delete? Would you do
counters high or low? What flooring would you use? What brand/type of
countertop would you use? I'm trying to design it for lots of extra space

For EPA standards, how do you label your waste drums? I have one 55 lb drum
that we only pour ventana waste in. What numbers do you write in the diamond
to cover all the kits that you stain with? 2 reps from EPA came by my lab
yesterday and said i needed an emergency phone list by our phone??
Does anyone know where to find the High complexity testing requirements for
CAP? We're about to apply for CAP accreditation and want to make sure the
person working in our lab grossing has the requirements. Thanks!

I just bought the MSI panel antibodies (MLH-1, MSH2, MSH6 and PMS2) from
Ventana/Cell Marque and I'm running them on the Ultra and XT: and I'm having
trouble, as well, getting them to the desired staining for my pathologists.

What about Alcohol & formalin from the processor? The diluted alcohol (100,
95, and 75%) and the alcohol from the cleaning cycle? Do you not pour that
down the drain with water? And, what about the H&E stainer...do you not pour
the bluing, hematoxylin, eosin and acid alcohol down the drain?

I am updating my QC Manual and wanted to know if you QC your Processors
and Microtomes? These are the only 2 pieces of equipment that I
haven't been QC'ing.

In MS, it's a problem of not having anyone to fill the vacant positions. And
once you find someone, that person can pretty much say the hours she/he wants
and the pay b/c you have no other candidates to choose from.

really enjoyed the continuous feed as well but I have a question...if I
deactivate a product from the Ultra's inventory list I notice it's still
in my XT's inventory list. So, I have to deactivate everything off of
