Hi all,
Are there any AP labs that are totally paper free during slide diagnosis?
We have the Vantage system with Sunquest CoPath. We still keep the paper
specimen requisition with the specimen container during grossing. After
digital gross dictation, the req slips are given to the transcript

Hi all,
We are in need of some Fungus controls. Anyone have any extras to spare? Will
do a trade... if we have anything available for you.
Thank you very much,

Hi Amber,
As part of our Vantage implementation process, a workflow consultant initially
came out to look at our processes. He was very nice and had a lot of great
suggestions. He was never pushy and I had control of what I wanted to change

We do it that way as well. It seems to flow quite nicely and it works well for

Hi all... sending out for a colleague...
After implementing the Vantage system, a lot of their ISH slides have a
purplish to bluish haze on the slides. Not all of them, but some and it seems
to be consistent. No problems before Vantage. They were using the longer

Hi all,
We are in the process of validating some antibodies in our MOHS lab. The Melan
A (Mart 1) antibody is working well, but it could be darker. We will be
increasing the Ab incubation time to see if that will help.
As for the Pan Keratin, we cannot get it to work at all. We use Protease
Hi,
We are looking for MOHS tech and have an applicant that is not a

which requires a certified tech for high complexity testing... according
to CAP regulations.
I was wondering what other MOHS techs are doing that are not cert
Hi,
My future plan for our lab is to purchase a Tissue Tek Xpress for
continuous processing.
I'd like to hear from Xpress50 users and Xpress120 users.
What are your processing schedules? What do you process throughout the
day? Would you recommend two 50's instead of one 120?
Any thoughts
Hi Histoland,
For those of you that are using the Vantage from Ventana, what cassette

Hi Amber,
I have a Holiday Rotation List that I use for my staff. I started the
list off with "seniority", but then everytime a tech uses PTO around a
holiday (either before or after), they go to the bottom of the list for
that holiday. This ensures that all techs have a chance to take off and

Hello,
This is for those techs that assist in the MOHS lab...
What is your daily flow for the work performed in your lab?
How are patients usually scheduled? (Are they staggered? All come in
at approximately the same time so 1st layers can be taken right away?)
How often are you receiving p
Hi Amy,
We do about the same number of autopsies per year... Only on in-house
patients and they have to be physician requested, no family requested.
We used to hire a diener to come and do them and the techs would assist.
None of the techs cared to do that, so I usually volunteered, since I

Hello,
It seems we go back and forth between multi-tissue control blocks and
single tissue control blocks when it comes to immunostaining.
In the past we used single blocks and still continue to use some for the
IPs that are rarely used. Then, switched to creating multi-tissue

We keep our empty biopsy containers for one week and then dispose of

we started doing it because there was a mix up with a biopsy case and we

Hi Cristi,
We have been monitoring alcohol fumes for many years. Our hospital safety

Brett,
We purchased the Tissue Tek PRISMA with the attached film coverslipper a
year ago and LOVE IT!! Was a little nervous switching from the glass
coverslips to the film, but the docs love the slides and we have had no
problems. Very easy to use and we like the fact that we can file the

One of our docs wants to have everything from Histology and Cytology on
one report for the patient. Is this possible? Can Cytology still
result the case if we have one accession number for everything?
Any help or ideas on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much!

Hello,
Does anyone have only procedures online? All of ours are online, but we
still keep a paper copy of each in a manual in the lab. I would like to
get rid of the manual, but then how do you record pathologist sign-off
on all new or revised procedures?
I'm curious to hear what other labs a
We also had this happen, and the red control box marking was on the
