Hello,
Would somebody happen to have an FFPE control block for CDV that we could have
or barter.
Thanks

Hello,
I am searching for veterinary labs who are using the Leica Bond to perform TSE
testing following the NVSL protocol. Specifically did you or are you still
having issues passing the check test?
Thanks

Does anybody use the BCV (BC 6-4) antibody from RTI LLC in Brocklings South
Dakota? Also does anyone use the Z3A5 from Kansas State University? We
have compared the two and are getting conflicting results. I do not know if
the Z3A5 is
Hello,
To all the veterinary labs. Has anyone found an antibody for BVD persistent
infection by IHC on ear punch cases. The 15.c.5 clone from IDEXX is no longer
available for purchase outside their ELISA test kits. I have a small amount
but am going to have change soon.
Thanks for all your

Hello,
I have a block of dog eye lens in which I can get very nice sections. When I
lay it out on my waterbath it wrinkles back up. Is there something I can do to
keep this from happening or is there another method of mounting eye lens to a
slide that someone can share.
Thanks

I also like to use our LIMS system as a tracking tool. In house controls have
an accession number that will be on all control blocks and any out of house
controls I get are accessioned into LIMS thus giving me electronic records and
a case number to use on the control block. Traceability is
Hi All,
Is there any standard on how long tissue cassettes can remain in the processor
after processing before the tissue is subjected to unwanted outcomes? And if
so what type of artifacts can one expect from tissue that was in the processor
in molten paraffin for 2 hours after the
Hello,
Has anyone studied where un-nucleated squamous epithelial cells originate from?
I'm leaning towards thumbing blocks with an ungloved hand but don't know
for sure. Other possibilities I've come up with are dandruff from the head or
uncovered arms. I hate to see our histologist work in
Greetings all,
We ran into an issue with the level of our first paraffin being extremely low
one day. We normally rotate paraffin at 300 blocks but sometimes this could
take 4-5 weeks and 15-20 runs before we get to this magic number. My question
is if we change to a number of runs to
Happy Friday to all,
Dako has once again raised their prices to the point that I'm asked to find
another IHC labeling kit that is cheaper. Could those doing IHC please
recommend a kit that is as good as Dako's LSAB2?
Thanks so much.

Happy Friday to all,
Our processor shut off last evening in 80% alcohol due to a misconnection of
the next reagent. We restarted this morning when we arrived but the tissues
were sitting in 80% for 9 hours. My question is what affect will this have on
the tissues which are a mixture of medulla

But it is my Friday and wouldn't this method give new meaning to the term
sausage block. :) I wish Margaret all the luck in her quest and if it was me,
I would try either or both methods.

Hello all,
Would proteinase K diluted in PBS be any different then PK diluted in Tris
buffer when used for a fluorescent antibody test? I'm having trouble
duplicating a published testing method and the only difference is PK diluted in
TBS instead of PBS.
Thanks in advance for all the wonderful
Hello,
Is anyone presently making their own TBS with tween 20 buffer to be used in
automated IHC? I would like to know if there are any problems related to these
buffers and if any deviations must be made to accommodate the automation.
Thanks

Hello All,
TGIF
I'm trying to help out one of my veterinarian pathologist in getting some
information on how to increase the bluing of the HE staining. Presently we
are using pre made Mayers Hematoxylin from Sigma with an automated schedule as
follows:
1. Drying 45min
2. citrisolve 3
Thank you to all who responded to this subject. Your knowledge will help us
make our decisions on the type of paraplast to be used in our lab, at least
until our contract vendor changes again.
Happy Holidays to all

We are using Shiffs reagent. When you put a drop of formalin in Shiffs reagent
it turns purple.
