I haven't posted anything on here for a while, hope someone can help me
as I'm drawing a blank searching on the internet. I'm one of the leaders
of an amateur microscopy group in the UK, the Anglian Microscopy Group,
and one of the subjects we regularly cover is histology where we help
members
Many thanks to all who replied, looks like this could be a thankless and
difficult task but we will persist in trying to reattach the coverslips that
have the better quality sections. Meanwhile the vast remainder of the
collection will keep us busy for quite some time!

I'm an
. In this
instance our options are obviously limited by lack of understanding how the
coverslips are applied and that coverslipping sysrem works.

I'm an amateur microscopist and along with a couple of fellow club members
we have acquired a fairly extensive collection of histopathology slides
(approx. 2500 slides) made in the early 2000s and used for seminar and

As an amateur microscopist I've made a few posts to Histonet over the years
and received some very helpful advice on text books etc and I mentioned in
my last series of posts that I'm restoring several old microtomes that have
come my way. I've been given a box of cassettes for these and wonder if
Can anyone give me recommendations for a good histopathology text and atlas?
I'm not a professional or even a formal student, I'm an amateur microscopist
with a keen interest in histology, although I did attend a UK medical school
many years ago only to decide that medicine was not for me. I'm
An exceptionally kind member of the list has now offered me a blade holder
that sounds ideal, many, many thanks to him and also to those who sent nice
messages! One of the emails I received was from a lady who teaches histology
who was interested in the Cambridge Rocker that I have and she asked
I dabble in microscopy - well I say I dabble, my wife says otherwise! - and
I have a reasonably well equipped home lab, which includes the ubiquitous
Cambridge Rocker. I've had reasonably good results with plant tissue
sections but sharpening the blades has always proved to be a pain and I tend

Perhaps I should point out that despite the date in the UK, my name is
genuinely as given, although my namesake may well be looking for a new hobby
to fill in his spare time after today...
