Does anyone know if expiration dates from purchased control slides are
necessary. Is there a regulation that requires expiration dates on purchased
controls?
We purchase from two different companies, one vendor has the expiration date on
the box and one does not include it.

We are a reference lab in central NJ looking for a 'seasoned' Histotech to
work four 10-hr days, Tues - Friday, 8am -6:30pm in our very busy Histology
laboratory. Job duties include: Grossing, embedding, cutting, staining
(Ventana platform for both HE and IHC) coverslipping, etc,.)
Can anyone share their IHC Validation procedure. I am preparing for a CAP
inspection and want to make sure that the procedure I (presently do/may change
to) is acceptable. Thank you very much!

Does anyone know how frequently you have to certify your NIST Thermometers (the
thermometer you use to calibrate all of the thermometers in the laboratory),
including a reference.
The certifiicate for my NIST Thermometer does not document the next time it
needs to be calibrated.

Recently we are experiencing random blocks of tissue (approx. 3 blocks out of
400/2x) that appear to be burned.? The tissue is prostate and the staining
looks dark.? Upon recutting, sometimes it is better, sometimes it is not, which
negates my ability to rule out the stainer completely.
