We are looking for the disposable blade holder for low profile blades that
fit in microtomes like the Leica 1510 where permanent blades used to be
held. We have two of these but they are both for high profile blades and we
would prefer to use low profile disposable blades. Does anyone have one
I hope that someone on histonet could help me. Our research lab just acquired
an old Leica 1512 in good working order but lacking a blade holder. Is it
possible for us to find a blade holder for this machine or is this a futile
cause? Any information you all could provide would be greatly

An exceptionally kind member of the list has now offered me a blade holder
that sounds ideal, many, many thanks to him and also to those who sent nice
messages! One of the emails I received was from a lady who teaches histology
who was interested in the Cambridge Rocker that I have and she asked

Gordon,
Thank you for posting the instructions
I dabble in microscopy - well I say I dabble, my wife says otherwise! - and
I have a reasonably well equipped home lab, which includes the ubiquitous
Cambridge Rocker. I've had reasonably good results with plant tissue
sections but sharpening the blades has always proved to be a pain and I tend

Perhaps I should point out that despite the date in the UK, my name is
genuinely as given, although my namesake may well be looking for a new hobby
to fill in his spare time after today...

Hello Lucy,
In regards to your trouble
Oh Budget cuts again! I been checking the web for a used disposable blade
holder for the Microm HM 310 Microtome with no luck. Does anyone have an
extra one laying around that I can purchase cheaply? .
