Cammi - Our lab processes thousands of fish specimens yearly. Fish of all ages. If the fish is initially fixed in Davidson's there should be no need for decalcification. Older, larger fish, just like mammals, may take further softening. If you have specimens already processed that don't cut well, after facing off soak them in Downy for an hour or so.
