Hi, I work in a Surgical Pathology frozen section lab outside the OR rooms. Normally we only perform an HE on the frozens. Now we are looking for a fast and inexpensive stain for fungus on our frozen sections. Fast is the operative word because we have to report diagnoses back to ORs in a 20

It appears, from a research paper I was reading, that a 1% solution of uvitex 2b added to eosin will cause fungus to fluoresce under uv light. I haven't performed it, however it could be as quick as an HE stain. Looks promising. Http://rd.springer.com/article/10.1007%2FBF02889994#page-1
