If you drop the condenser down so Koehler illumination is not aligned, this 
give you a pseudo phase contrast.   You can see many structures in tissue due 
to the different density of the cells.  So I would recommend a microscope that 
has a condenser that can be moved up and down.  We have 2 old Olympus BH2 in 
our Microtomy area.

ANY microscope with decent objectives will do. Even used microscopes you can 
buy in eBay.
The problem is not with the microscope but how the HTs will be able to locate 
those structures while still embedded in the paraffin.
