Hi - I have recently started working HL7 Message parsing and looked at the
HAPI API. I've done implementation for Order HL7 Message using HAPI.
Can some one provide sample HL7 Messages for Meds and Vitals? I reallly
appreciate it.

Guys, thanks a lot for all the info! I did make some progress yesterday, my
component now takes message and exceptions, checks if the version is 2.5 or
greater (it seems the repetitive ERRs were not allowed prior to 2.5) and uses
reflection to get the getERR method and invoke it to get the segme
Yikes, thanks Tom for correcting me! You definitely have this right and I
was backwards. I will mention that the reason I have it backwards is that
one of the systems we deal with regularly at UHN also gets it backwards..
Which brings me to my reply to Eugene: What you propose sounds sensible.

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like this was just a temporary outage
caused by problems over at Sourceforge. Fortunately things seem to be back

The HAPI web site at http://hl7api.sourceforge.net/ is down today (2012-10-23).
It was working last night. Will it be back up soon? Chrome reports that the
connection was interrupted and provides this error detail:
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.

Since HAPI 2.0 there's the DefaultValidationWithoutTN class, which contains
all rules of DefaultValidation except for the TN rule. Still, it trims FT,
ST, TX types.
If you want no validation and no trimming, just use ValidationContextImpl or
even as a ValidationContext.
