and here's some proof... the console crashes a split second after the print
screen. A bunch of lines pop up for a split second saying something about

The last line of text in the console is "maxplayers set to 6" and then it
crashes. And it's not a big crash, the window just closes. Can anyone help

I don't know if it will help, but I've had this problem a couple of times. I
simply fixed it by using properties-local files - verify integrity of game
cache. Takes a couple of minutes but then all is well

Steam verifies game files. Then it disappears. I have deleted my CSS
folder plus local files and reinstalled them, but I keep getting that
message. Please help.

My brother had that 2 days ago.
The old delete clientregistry.blob (or whatever it's called) fixed it.

As of last night, I am not able to run steam at all. I get the typical
message that I am not connected to the network, but I did try to run in
offline mode and actually connected to a server, but eventually got the not

Ian,
A lot of clients saw their Steam download rate get changed the last
update or two, and it's tightly linked to the game rate setting now so
changing one will change the other.
Check your Steam rate and make sure it's set correctly for your network
connection.
Check your MTU as well if
