Hi Fletcher,
One thing I used to do, but stopped in case it might cause problems in
the future, was manipulate queries to players who were deemed to have
reserved slots (by storing their IP addresses, and then modifying the
query sent to those addresses).
What I did was simply increase the m

Yesterday the Team Fortress team took further action pursuant to the "policy of
truth" that was announced in December of last year. We delisted some servers
that were reporting inaccurate information in server-browser-related
communications.
Our goals are for players to be able to find the ser
That's be great if it was accessible. Because currently, if you really
needed to get at a client's steamid you'd have to go through roundabout
methods of either performing an "add friend" search or simulating a fake
connection to the server in order to get Steam to send down persona
information. (W
Well, I do have it on my list to update the players query. The client
currently just trusts the data it receives from the server --- and we all know
that sometimes servers report inaccurate information. The client could confirm
the information with the Steam backend. And I’d like to add info
Chad: Thank you for the wiki info, it was very interesting. From reading it,
it's almost like my server's heartbeat stops so the master server drops it
from the list and only running the HLDSUpdatetool or overwriting the
InstallRecord.blob file with a newer one makes it start beating again.
Weird.
Fletch, if server player queries are going to go through Steam in the near
future, is it possible to provide the SteamID of clients on servers in
addition to their name, score, and time played?
That would make it particularly useful for any tools that want to get at
more details about the players
Cud I have rittened any moar typoess in that poste?
Don't read that. Read this:

Luckily Valve keeps an incredibly detailed wiki about these sorts of things.
This isn't the exact link but it should point you in the right direction.

Thank you for the reply dontwannaname. I'm unfamiliar with this "master

saying that if Valve changes or takes one of it's servers offline , a game
server could potentially stop being listed in the master server list beca
Will do on the IP check.

When one of your servers is "delisted" please check the output of status
command. See if the displayed public IP is the expected one.

Is your master server list ini up to date? You could try deleting the
directories that aren't in the tf folder. The only thing that's there that
matters is the sv pure white list. Then you can dl a fresh copy of those steam
files from the tool.

Fellow Server Operators and Valve Readers,
I have gotten into the habit of checking my TF2 servers to make sure they
are appearing in the Valve master server list because about every week or so
they just stop showing up and my player counts fall through the floor. At
least one or more of my serve
