Just to let everyone know when a problem is resolved...I had a
directory name with a capital letter in it (Desktop) which was
causing the problem. HLDS was creating a set of directories
starting with desktop. Server appears to be running...

HELP!! I'm running server 3111 counterstrike on mandrake 9.1. while the server is
starting up i get
"1643 Segmentation Fault (core dump) $hl $* line83 ./hlds_run"
this is a totally new linux install
I'm thinking that is not really the problem. I replaced the gfx.wad
file with a clean one I know works and no luck. Could it be a
permissions thing?
