I recently installed a fresh clean install of steam on a linux box. When I went
to run a hltv off it and connect it to a steam server, I got this error:

Just make sure you run these under the same user account name - otherwise
you'll need to create a new account if you are running each hlds process
under a different username... It places a hidden folder in the root of
that username called: .steam where ClientRegistry.blob resides with your

Hate to interfere in what is clearly a bitter rivalry...
You're confusing 3D graphics performance with application performance.
I love AMD

Even if they dont, I'd be interested to see the effect of a kernel

Eric,
Talking shit? However much I prefer P3's for a server platform - there's
no denying P4s performance. P4 a crappy design? I don't think so.
You're not a CPU architect are you?
I await your lovely thought out reply - where you attempt to prove your

Just did some testing on a few machines here!
Both machines are running Linux 2.5.75, with HZ set to 100.
Both of the servers are with sys_ticrate 100.
Each sample was taken every few seconds.
I originally did this for several minutes - I have just posted the
average readings.

If you dislike it that much, don't use reserved slots. Or try one of the

I know this.
You join the game, you load up, and then just get disconnected for no
apparent reason due to not being able to use the reserved slot. Don't
you think this is a bit crud?
