They've supported it for what 6-7 years now? Can you name any other game that has had support or even updates for that length of time? There are a tonne of old games still being sold at your local PC shop that have developers that have since closed down, been accuired or moved in other directions.

if you look at some of the custom maps out there things behave much more like you'd think they should. One of the de_nuke maps has barrels that you can stand on and move around, etc. I first noticed that right after valve released an update, and I thought maybe they'd fixed the goofy physics stuff.
