The more frequent the snapshots the more accurate each client's update
is. The client's don't get snapshots simultaneously, they req

What's the point in an FPS over about 150fps anyhow?

Was FC4 not standard with a 1000hz kernel?
What FPS are you getting and what is your fps_max setting at?
FPS tops out at around 333 on Linux, but you have to have a setting of 500
or above to reach it.

I've also noticed heavily increased CPU usage.
We have a 32 player WC3 server (which is notorious for using heaps of cpu)
1.6 server running on an AMD64 3200+ using 30-40% cpu max. (hlds)
However we have a 24 player Source server (stock standard

We had someone on our DOD:S server like that. Had a name that said "you
can't ban me for TKs" or something like that, and he had no steam ID. We
banned his IP and he hasn't been back so far.

I believe that means the person is using a non official steam client. Not

It's a dedcated server in Equinix in Chicago, I've tried a fresh
install, 2.6.11 and 2.6.14 kernels, and no plugins running at all. And
its srcds, I just want 1 private match server out of it so I have no
need to install any mods/plugins other than CSP.

Not only have I noticed much higher CPU usage on the SRCDS engine, but I
have noticed that it used the same % and mem % no matter what hardware
platform is used. On Dual 244 Opterons w/ 2GB Ram, even a 12 person 100
tickrate server utilizes between 40% and 65% CPU and 4-6% MEM (CPU out
of 200%).
I noticed higher cpu usage too at srcds on freebsd. Usually the system is
running at 1-1.5 load
and now nothing has changed (, just updates) and load is around 3.

Hey Everyone,
I've got a few servers running Fedora Core4 which are currently locked at a

I have been told to recompile the kernel under 1000hz but I have no idea

Could someone give me a resource / guide
I've reported this to Alfred but I think more people should be aware of it.
For the last couple of days one of my servers has been getting "raged"
by a myg0t. Somehow he's able to stay connected to the server with
steam_id_pending so the only way to ban him is via ip and as is typical

Is this srcds or hlds you are talking about?

I noticed higher cpu usage as well but until now didn't have the time to
investigate any further.
