This is something that has happen to us not too long ago in the past.

Yes but the ports shouldn't be in use if they're restarting. Maybe try
adding some delays to your reboot scripts so the daemon has a chance to shut
down and a check to see if the process is closed before starting up a new
server.

The problem is, that we are an official Gameserver provider, so when our
servers restart in the morning, som servers are faster than others, it
depends on how many mods the customer has installed.

I'm with Michael here. This is bad application behavior. If the port
is specifically specified, and that port is already in use, the server
startup should fail with an appropriate exit code.

If it cant get it's own, I would look at that problem first.
If you did a restart and it changed port after that, try waiting some time
before starting up again, perhaps the process is keeping the port in use for
a little while (rare conditions, but could occur)

Hi.
After the new update to source, we have been having som problems whit our
servers.
The new engine takes a random port, if i can't get it's own. Thats a major
problem for us, as we host a lot af serveres, an when a server take a port
that it should not have, the another server, can't start on
Thank you.

For the record you asked why it was removed as well. I answered half of your
questions.
About the plugin, I certainly hope not. 100 tick servers are buggy on CSS.

Thanks, but I tried it with -ip and I still got the same result.
If I change the map using "changelevel" instead of "map" then this error does
not happen. But if I try to restart the server using quit, restart, or
_restart, then the server says it will restart in 10 seconds and just hangs, so
What is it with CSS Players that they always argue about the tickrate so
much? Since tf2 released it is 66 with no complaining at all.
I guess it is because the most players are kids that are into

Will their be a custom patch released or a detours function that we

Map command restarts server. Use changelevel.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Still seems like a map change using "map"
shouldn't kill a working server, though.

Use changelevel, not map. Using map basically restarts the server.

A new development. For the last few days, I wasn't able to establish a client
connection to my server at all after it started up. A connection would always
either crash the client or crash the server immediately. However, I just
restarted my server for the billionth time, and this time I was
I decided to do several tests myself. Results are identical on both of my

I mean, Linux is identical to windows in every way, so how could the

Hello,
Yes, I did copy the server config from my old CS:S directory into this one.
Except for the server.cfg and motd.txt files, it is a completely default
install.
Start-up command line is the same as I was using for CS:S before the update:
./srcds_run -game cstrike +ip 72.237.4.31 -port 27
