Well actually it is. I'm interested in seeing how to filter text from

Before mutli-core CPUs became prevalent, memory usage probably wasn't
much of a concern, but now it is, because you can stack so many more
srcds servers on a single host.
I bought a cheap 6-core AMD CPU for under $200 and run about eight
public srcds servers on it, and a couple extra private

I guess this is a dumb question, but why doesn't Valve statically link
against the libraries they use? Wouldn't that solve the problem at a
slight overhead in memory for server admins?

I must say the increase in official valve responses on the lists as of late

It's great that you have addressed the issue and found a solution. Take your

No Orange Box update today. The one we wanted to release includes new steam
binaries, and they require new versions of libstdc++.so. Many older linux
distributions commonly in use do not have the proper libs, and they aren't
available simply by installing a package. So releasing it as is woul
The reason why it didn't remove your older data is because the session files

I haven't noticed this problem on my servers. I did see it a couple of times
in early July, however, when players connected, it would fill those "ghost"
slots and I didn't think of it as being an issue.

I dislike it too, as Nemrun doesn't install optional updates either... but
at least I have the option of updating myself.

All updates that don't require client changes are marked as optional. :/
Anyway, I was thinking we'd see new crate series in TF2 today (it's been 4
weeks since the last set, as we still have 3 classes to go).

Because it doesn't require a protocol change, or new content, or similar.
Basically, it means you get to choose when you restart your server without
having to worry about people not being able to connect due to a different
server version.

it fixed a big bug (ghost players) which affect all servers all over the

Gluteoalgic??? Not even Google knows what that means. =)
Great to hear about the VAC warning
Right now it looks like today's update will be an optional update. Still
figuring out exactly what games will be affected.
In other news, we found a problem that would cause the game server to kick
everybody off with a steam authentication / VAC warning. I know that this has

I observed today that some of my servers had exactly same reputation (a value
greater than 10). After few hours the values were slightly different, but
still not as they should (for example a server with more than 2 million points
now has only 123000). Did anyone else notice this?

Perfect! The SourceTV bug fix comes just in time before our highlander matches
take off again.
That player counting bug was a right pain in the arse, especially once a match
was ongoing and a player would accidental drop, sometimes impossible to rejoin
the server because of the SourceTV clients
What is the files owner and chmod ?
I have other services with server to server transfers with the same problem.
I have solved that with a root-cronjob that is changing owner and chmod
in the destination map every hour.
that did solve my problem.

Hello,
The replay cleanup has never worked on my server. I still have some files
from the 27/07 both on the server and FTP, and when I tried to do a
"replay_docleanup force" the server crashed.
Did anyone experience these issues as well?
