Hi,
It seems that I've missed a thing.
Can anybody tell me what all of this Anti CSDoS and HLShield is about?
Is it really needed? I'm a bit afraid of loading a library from a .ro
website where I don't have the source code ;)
Cheers
Marcel

Their terribad site design is reason enough not to use it

Sure - that's another reason.
But: Is there currently such a exploit to crash CS servers? Will there
be a fix from Valve?

Valve really needs to re-introduce the 3rd party module signing requirement
they attempted last year, at least you have some measure of plugin
authenticity.

sm_cvar is for cvars only so it won't let you use ent_remove_all like in
that email.
And phys_timescale 0 does not require cheats.

report back.

As far as I know all public exploits for HL1 engine were fixed by Valve, so
you don't need any additional protection if you're using the latest
binaries.
Initially only NOSTEAM servers were vulnerable to CSDOS and Born to be Pig
exploits, so Valve did nothing about them. This is why Anti CSDoS
phys_timescale 0 would disable all physics based weapons, including the
sandman and all of the demoman's grenade and sticky launchers.

And
Probably why the person who suggested phys_timescale 0 also specifically
stated;
However doing this on a real server will break the demoman nades and
the scout's
ball weapons and is not recommended

Netchannel: unknown net message (24) from 24.246.163.218:27005.
Tend to get this in server console every once in awhile..
Dono if its some type of dos attempt or if its just usual messages from
faulty client to server code. Maybe a broken query script on a gametracking
website or something.
I've gotten that same message before, could be aliens.

That might be indeed the content of the unknown net message.
I'll send mine just directly: Happy new year everybody.
