I'm using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and openSUSE since 9.1. Stable and
easy to use.
And even with kernel 3.1.10-1.9-default the performance is great.

I've used CentOS, Debian, Arch, and Windows 2003/2008. Gentoo is what I've
stuck with, and it's great. However, as you should know, X is a bad idea.
You need to be 'into it' if this is the path you're wanting to take. Debian
is a lot easier to maintain, and I recommend that if you're wanting to set
Ubuntu 10.04 x64 here - Valve uses the same as well for their servers.

I use Debian Squeeze 32 bit for my game servers (all are VMs). I just
like their packaging system. Was on Arch for quite a long time, but
didn't care for package updates breaking the system (a little too
close to bleeding edge for me). I do have some other servers runnig

Is Gentoo a good distro for goldsrc HLDS? What distro's do you server ops use
and recommend? I'm not looking for a OS battle here. Just a simple answer with
a small explanation why. :)

Is there any additional settings Debian 6 (64b) for TF2?
Let's say I install debian 6 out of the box. Something needs to
configure itself for the Orangebox?
For example, the number of simultaneously open files in the system?
Recently tried to install Debian is a net to a new server. Th
Hi there,
I'm trying to setup a Zombie Panic! Source server. The server seams to
connect to the Steam Master Servers and it is VAC secured, but for some
weird reason I can't find it in
the Steam server list. Actually I can't find any mod server in the
server list. Is there a problem with it? S
It seems that the Left 4 Dead 2 dedicated server no longer removes the
temporarely 5min bans that get set when player is kicked from the game.
If i reboot the particular server, it will clear out the list of those
temp 5min bans as it should be cleared when ban time expires.

Server crash on linux here since update... Anyone else see a problem ?
A few comments on this update:
1. Linux and Windows files are now shipped together.
2. filename changes:
The map filename for the linux version was kf-aperture.rom, while it's
now KF-Aperture.rom.
Windows do not make any diff
