I've browsed the Natural Selection forums at
http://www.natural-selection.com, and combed through the list archives.
About the only thing I could find were some messages from November saying
something to the effect of "Windows NS dedicated servers use 40% less CPU
than Linux dedicated servers."

I haven't seen much traffic regarding NS since. I know they're about to
release 1.04 server-side...

Is anyone else on this list happily running a Linux NS server? I can run
multiple 16-player CS servers on a 2GHz P4 with 1GB, but running one
single 16 NS server HURTS. CPU shoots up to over 80-90% and the latency
for all players shoots up exponentially (100-300 up from 40-60).

I am running the latest hlds_l (not the beta) and the only mod I have
installed is AM/MM (2.50.50/1.13.2).

I've tested this on a RH7.2 box and a Debian box with the same result.
The RH7.2 box is a 2.4.9 smp kernel, and the Debian is 2.4.19.

There are other things running on those boxen at the moment, but this
problem seems confined to ns.

ALSO, If any NS guys watch this list, could you tell me whether we can
expect lower CPU usage with the 1.04 release?

TIA,
WarmFuzzy
