It won't be using IE as such, it'll be using "mshtml.dll" I imagine. IE is basically a window into this and can set various settings that this dll will utilise also. So even if you remove IE from your install, that dll will still exist as it's a fundamental part of the OS and upsetting it's sett

I use Firefox as my primary (default) browser and had been experimenting with setting up a proxy filter using a linux box on my network to route my kids browsers through. I was testing the proxy under IE as I didn't want to interfere with my normal browsing. After testing, I turned the proxy off
