Leigh,
Please mail me with more info. on say playing qualities compared to some
larger american horns. I'm very curious as to the acoustic aspect of the horn,
how does it project? What kind of sound does it make? Is it flexible with what
kind of section of horns?? Things like that,
Best o
Or just do what someone I knew did. In a Cadenza for some really modern piece
he decided to place the horn aside, stand in the middle of the stage, (and
fortunately this was a rehearsal) and said, "Why??". He then picked the horn
back up and finished the job.
I think it was some sort of bet
Regarding the "timbre trill," all I can think of is to play it 23 on the F
side and vary the inside of your mouth as if you're screaming
"AYIYIYIYIYIYIYIYIYIYIYIYIYI." Do this as close to the composer as possible
as loud as possible, and then whisper, "Like that?"

There is a compilation of the concerts on an EMI CD. Check with your local
classical music CD dealer (if one still exists in your neighborhood) and
then do a classical title search on Tower or Amazon on line.

Please, can someone tell me how to get a copy of this recording? I had it many years
ago and it was fabulous. As I recall there was also a Tuba quartet that played Chopin
- incredible!

Hoss,
The Pizka horn is right up there with Schmid, Lawson, Haagston,
Finke, Otto and Duerk in terms of quality, playability and sheer joy one gets when
playing these horns. If you acquire a Pizka, you will never regret it. It compels you
to reach for even greater musicianship.
