Actually, Paul, while I'm thinking about it, here are some other suggestions
for 2 Horn concerti (or is it for one doublehorn?) from about the same
period:
Leopold Mozart, Concerto in Eb for 2 Horns, Strings, and Continuo
Telemman wrote two concerti for 2 Horns, one in D the other in F

Once you reach critical mass storage is not a problem. The builder of my
house intended my studio for a living room, and it is reasonably sized,
having a large stone fireplace with a raised hearth. I will undoubtedly
leave out many objects which are kept in this room, but here are the
basics.

Mr. Otten,
I have played the score to West Side Story on a number
of occasions, although never his orchestral suite.
In the show itself, there is very little muted horn,
only when the horn plays along with the string
section. Depending on what song from the show you're
playing in those

The horn I play on is an Eroica, and when I purchased it used four years
ago, Volkweins told me that the Eroica had been off the market for some time
all
ready. Try the UMI site if you haven't found out any more info.

I don't know. Twenty five years or so ago was the last time I saw a
new 8D, and schools were buying lots of them. All of them had a shiny
gold-looking mpce. It was too small for the horn, but probably made
the kids sound better at first. I changed lots of kids to this Geyer
copy and they
It is a shame that instruments with a long and great history disappear.
Unfortunately when visitors to the music industry (wall street CEO's) take
charge, they are only interested in the bottom line. Reduce costs, lay off
workers, consolidate models, eliminate models, etc. They lack the
Betcha it was Conn Constellation 7B-W -- basically a fancypants
gold-plated version of the trusty old Conn 2. 5B-W was a tad larger. The
Conn folks described 3B-W as full symphonic bore.
From smaller to larger, I think the series went 9, 7, 5, 3 -- no 10 or 11,
no 2 or 1.
I played on 5B-W
You should be able to find mouthpieces to try in the local area. Along with
the MDC, add to your list the Bach 3 and Schilke 31B, (and possibly the Schilke
31C4). These are all very acceptable unless you have a problem to correct, or
are playing more than three or four hours a day. They are

The link is a picture. The horn seems to play OK.
What should I do about this?

A) Nothing.
B) Have the Lead Pipe straightened.
C) Replace the Lead Pipe with something inexpensive.
D) Get a good Lead Pipe.
If either C or D, will figuring out
Get the lead pipe straightened. And it might be a good idea also to rest
the horn on something more substantial than a music stand. Otherwise, when
it falls off, more parts could could get bent than just the lead pipe.
