Probably not of any help, but I just thought it was interesting. I was
talking to a retired Detroit Symphony horn player today and he mentioned that
the J series Giardinellis were the Jimmy Stagliano model.

My questions are:
Do the Houser horn rims match the threading of Giardinelli mouthpieces?
Yes. I just put a post-Y2K Giardinelli C rim and a Giardinelli rim
made when Bob

The J4 replica that Stork produces has an inner diameter of 18.3 mm.
Wouldn't that suit your needs???

The Wagner Tuba comes in two species: Bb-(tenor)-tuba equal in range to
Bb-horn, but has a fourth valve of a Fourth, to bridge for the lowest octave,
where it crawls rarely, but good for low c (below 4rth ledger line below staff)
and the F-(basso)-tuba equal in range to the plain F-horn, but als
The known concertos for high horn are in the keys of D, Eb, E, and F , the
cantatas & arias or ensembles are written for horns in D, F, G, A mostly,
but a few in Bb-alto & C-alto. That time back the horn players did not own
the instruments. They belonged to the church. A horn was worth a year incom
Best way to do it, is a convincing tempo set by yourself to feel comfortable

does not exist. All should be related with 60 or 12, like metronome 60, 66,

You might want to take a look at my JS rim
(http://osmun.com/OsmunMPC/Osmun_Horn_Rims.html). It's not on the
separate rim price list on the store page since I normally only sell it
as part of the Stagliano replica mouthpiece but it is available as a rim
only.

Thanks for the Stork reference, Martin!
I was aware about Stork carrying on the Giardinelli knowledge, and I never
doubted their level of competence.
However the Stork site reveals no horn rims with an aperture larger than 18mm.
And I see no mentioning of stainless steel rims.

Hello Klaus,
**I do not receive compensation for this endorsement.**
While I have no experience with Houser mouthpieces, I suggest you
contact John Stork (www.storkcustom.com) for your mouthpiece issues.
He apprenticed at Giardinelli's, and is very knowledgeable about all
their models, bot
My mouthpiece since 1992 is a Giardinelli J4 with an 18mm screw rim which is
narrow, flat, and has a sharp inner edge. I have worked on the throat and on
the backbore.
It fits my inset embouchure, and the only thing worrying me is the rim becoming
worn.

Hi,
I'm going to give a little twist to the recent discussions about
studying from a book, a DVD or a live, in-person teacher. There is
another possibility. There is no better thing than studying with a
good teacher in person, but books and other media like my DVDs can be
very helpful, ev
Hi,
A few weeks back I asked for volunteers to help me test some of the
variables involved in giving successful live video horn lessons.
Having successfully done these lessons for several years using mostly
Mac to Mac connections using the free program iChat, I was interested
