I play one. Not having played a 103 for more than a few minutes I
can't verify this, but I'm told that having the 4th valve furthest
from the face improves the balance. The "circumference" is larger too,
which may suit taller people.
Buying one improved my tone (color?) immensely, and a Pizka mp has
helped too.
(I grew up on a Lidl BF and also played an early Yamaha double.)
FWIW
BTW I was surprised to hear that they were released so long ago. I got
mine in the 90s.

Since the Alex 103 is so popular, please tell us what the difference
is
between a 103 and an 1103?
Thanks from someone who has never seen an Alex double other than a
103.
