Last time I checked, no one in the Columbus Symphony plays a 10D anymore. I
remember vaguely someone mentioning at a horn workshop in Columbus, perhaps
Scott Bacon, that their section played on 10Ds. When the quartet came out,
someone asked what they were playing, and there wasn't a single 10d in
Conn 11D's can be very good horns. Kevin Owen, a Boston freelancer plays one
as part of his professional horn collection as do several other members of
the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. There is a player in the Milwaukee
Symphony who plays one. I know that Julia Rose has favorable things to sa
they are very good and probably the most underrated horns coming from the factory in
the world.

I prefer a 10D for the larger amount of color. There are some very good horns on the
used market, look for a good horn and find yourself lucky. Lot's can be done to
improve them as well,

Hey everyone,
Have any of you tried the Conn 11Ds (geyer model)? What have you
thought of them? Are they good? Was the valve action smooth and slick? Are they
considered professional level? Is Conn (Now days) considered a profesional horn
(the 8Ds, 10Ds, and 11Ds.)?
