Dear fellow members of all these wonderful music related groups I enjoy to be a
member of

For about a year I haven’t been able to add to my series of free downloadable
music files in
.PDF-format. I hope to be up and running in that matter soon into 2006. At
least my eyesight is
back again. And the computer problems hopefully will find a solution.

We are hastily approaching Christmas, and many ensembles want to present some
“exotic” music
related to this great feast of the church.

I have issued a series of Danish carols and hymns, about 10 of them related to
Christmas.

The format is 9 sets of compatible playing scores allowing for any ensemble
type from the most
oddly composed quartet to the full symphony orchestra.

There are no parts specifically for the harp, but it may play from the organ
part.

There are no parts for timpani or non-tuned percussion. However any sort of
tuned percussion will
be able to find relevant parts.

There are 3 “how-to” texts:

A presentation of the nine playing score types

A presentation of programme notes

A suggestion how to combine the scores into larger ensembles like various sizes
of orchestras or
bands

Recorder ensembles, Flute choirs, any clarinet quartet permutation, string
quartets,
trombone/tuba/horn/mixed brass quartets, saxophones, guitars, keyboards, double
reeds, plus, plus
ad infinitum will find themselves served musicwise.

All hymns and carols are specifically Danish (aside from a couple of steals
from Norway). I
haven’t seen it as my task to present the great, shared hymnbook of Europe, as
it is well
documented in so many other contexts.

The span in time goes from around 1550 to late Romanticism. The older samples
often present
interesting rhythms and tonalities. Even the Danish Romanticism varies quite a
bit from its
Anglo-Saxon equivalent.

You will find the hymn project here under the title of “Danske salmer”:

However I suggest, that you join my project via the link presented in my
extended signature. I
will then invite you to be members of all of my download groups. You will find
lots of stuff
relevant in church contexts as well as offering great opportunities to present
various sections of
your ensembles.

I wish you all a merry Christmas musicwise and in every other aspect of life!

All the best

Klaus

A PS for the horn players: The 1st horn carries the soprano line, but it will
never ascend beyond
G on top of the stave.
