I would like to take this opportunity to remember another fine horn player-my
friend Ned Treuenfels who lived in Los Angeles. Ned was also an 'overworked'
hornist; doing studios from one end of L.A. to another-sometimes 3 or 4 gigs in
one day.

He was driving on the freeway when he fell asleep and his car went underneath
the back of a truck.

He had just gotten married a short time before his death. His career was on
the upswing although he wasn't yet an A or B lister for the movie gigs-he would
have eventually ended up in those ranks.

It is really tragic that musicians like Ned and a whole lot of other studio
players have to spend their time and energy just getting between gigs in order
to make ends meet.

At this point, Dennis Brain was heavy overworked & terribly
