It's most likely just kerosene and has discolored with age. It's
probably fine. I've used some rather dark valve oils in years past.

Lots of valve questions lately. I'm thinking there are 3 major causes of
valves wearing out, corrosion, dirt and chemical cleaning.
Everybody's corrosion mileage is going to vary depending on how
frequently you oil your valves, quality of the alloys used and how much acid is in
