Wendell, 

Any debate can get heated....I am not P.C. in my
remarks because I do not have too. The big confusion
seems to be the fact this is a trumpet teacher, who
includes horn teachers and players in their critic of
methodology. 

It is fine Wendell if you don't like my style of
disagreement ( how right or wrong it may be), but quit
with the condescending remarks.  Out of the maybe 30
people who participate on this list, you have some
good things to say.

As for students with special problems, that is for a
great teacher to overcome. I know exactly how I would
solve the problems you outline. 
I am not a great teacher, but I have enough experience
with students, and experience with my own development
to diagnose and help any player overcome a particular
obstacle. The big caveat is the patience and hard work
by the student, which I would promote and encourage.
Fortitude is a quality to find in more people of the
world.
