The Selmer red goo is excellent.
Failing that, go to Pep boys or any other auto supply store and buy
yourself a tube of automotive wheel bearing grease.
It works very well, is "cost effective" (a.k.a CHEAP) and likely
you'll have the tube for years.

Yes, it is thick. It is like cork grease. Normally, #8 gel is much better
for slides.

Mark, yes, it is supposed to be that sticky.? It's intended for those slides
that are really loose and drop out by themselves.? I always tell customers that
it's? stop-gap measure until they can get their slides expanded to fit.
