Hans is definitely right that changing equipment doesn't
change my skill level, but I have enjoyed playing some horns
more than others.

Playing Strauss on a fat, old Hoyer has an entirely
different feel than playing it on my Conn. I still struggle
with the same passages and have the same problems with my
technique, but I have more fun.

When you don't have to rely on your playing for a living and
play for the sheer joy of it, I think the fun factor seems
more important. At least it does for me.
