[HOT] Question just to be sure.. Residential landuse areas should have at least 20 buildings?

2015-05-02 Thread Tom McDonald
I encountered a tile with many small (2 or 3 houses) areas in the hills of Nepal marked as landuse=Residential. It is my understanding that this tag should be used only for true "Settlements" of 20 or more houses? I read somewhere that counting the number of "Residential" areas can be used as a ro

[HOT] JOSM Banner about imagery might be misaligned?

2015-05-07 Thread Tom McDonald
Today, whenever I load Bing imagery in JOSM I get a banner at the top with the message: "Aerial imagery might be misaligned. Please check its offset using GPS tracks!" Anyone know why this is happening now and never before? I tried IRC but no joy. I even reinstalled JOSM, tried JOSM on a new co

I agree John - JOSM should be encouraged for building mapping. I do not think it deserves a difficult reputation. An awesome and easy to use feature (besides the building tool of course) is the filter: setting one to hide all building=* makes it really easy to flip all buildings on/off. This makes

Though I am active, I do NOT show up on Pascal's new contributor's list (user tmcd123, joined April 30). There must others missing as well? Paul's suggestion "Maybe instructions should contain some images to show clearly what is expected," is excellent. I still find it difficult to decide what to

[HOT] Tasking Manager - Overlapping Projects with the same Instructions

2015-06-03 Thread Tom McDonald
I have discovered that some geographical areas appear in more than one project – with the *same instructions* (roads/buildings, etc). This is resulting in some tasks being marked as Validated in one project, and yet the same area in another project may not have this status. Examples are http://tas
