*Position: Senior Java Developer* *Location: St. Louis, MO* *Duration: 6 - 12 Months* *Rate $55-60/hr on Corp to Corp* *Job description:* Provides Java application software development services or technical support typically in a defined project. Develops program logic for new Java applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications. Analyzes requirements, and maintains, tests and integrates application components. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented. Usually requires 5 to 10 years of previous experience. *Responsibilities:* Monsanto is passionate about using science and technology to improve agriculture. Monsanto scientists are conducting research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) team within IT works directly with the Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable these research and development efforts. The accepted candidate will join the emerging field of IT systems informatics leveraging their technical expertise to play a key role in defining and delivering breakthrough science in high throughput R&D platforms for Monsanto. The successful candidate will work with the TPS Team within Monsanto to develop and maintain enterprise-level solutions utilizing service oriented, web, and mobile technologies. The candidate will work on a team utilizing the Scrum methodology. This will involve working closely with scientific business analysts, testers, customer advocates, and project managers. *Required Skills:* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience. The candidate must possess the following technical experience: • Minimum requirements include at least 6-10 years of full time experience as a programmer/analyst in a scientific or technical environment. • Proficiency in Java. • Minimum 5 years experience working with any Object Oriented language (ex. Java, C#, Scala, Ruby). • Experience with web services (SOAP/REST) for multi-tier applications. • Familiarity with HTML and basic JavaScript. • Experience with and able to explain the value of professional software engineering concepts including Test First Development, Refactoring, and Design Patterns. • Experience with and knowledge of some high level GO4 design patterns (above and beyond J2EE patterns). • Experience with object-relational mapping technologies (ex. Hibernate). • Experience with an inversion-of-control framework such as Spring. • Experience with an automated unit testing tool such as JUnit, TestNG, NUnit, ScalaTest, or RSpec. • Understand and be able to explain the value of using Test First Development methodology. • A demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies as needed as well as a willingness to do collaborative software development is necessary. *Desired Skills:* • Experience with Test First Development methodology. • Experience with Maven. • Experience with Web Services. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are highly desired. • Ability to work in an Agile team environment (i.e. Scrum). • Experience working with Open Source technologies, and ideally having contributions to the Open Source community. • Optionally, these skills while not required, would be highly desired. • Mobile experience, especially around iOS. • Big Data experience (i.e. Hadoop). • Web UI experience using modern JavaScript libraries (JQuery, Backbone, etc). ____________________________________________________________ *Position: Big Data* *Location: St Louis, MO* *Duration: 12+ months* *Rate $70-75/hr on Corp to Corp* *Responsibilities:* Leading innovation by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing Big Data centric technologies for the platform Technical architect and hands-on developer to support data platforms Provide creative approaches to educate others on various Data Technologies and a how they can best be leveraged Problem solving *Required:* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience At least 6-8 years of overall IT experience Experience implementing such No SQL platforms such as Hadoop, Cassandra, MarkLogic etc 5+ years hands-on experience with open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP) as an application developer Good client facing skills, good communication & presentation skills *Preferred:* Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and considerations for scalable, distributed systems a plus Have made active contributions to open source projects like Apache Hadoop or Cassandra Previous experience with high-scale or distributed RDBMS (Teradata, Oracle, etc) Extensive experience with data implementations, data storage and distribution Excellent understanding of Big Data Analytics platforms and ETL in the context of Big Data experienced on working with large volume data set Experience with VPC adoption Have a solid track record of building large scale systems utilizing Big Data Technologies ______________________________________________________________ *Position: Hadoop Engineer (with Hortonworks exp)* *Duration: 2 months* *Location: Minneapolis, MN. * *Rate $65-70/hr on Corp to Corp* *Job Description:* The project requires an engineer that has worked with Hortonworks Hadoop products and is knowledgeable in; Java, Python, HDFS, Restful Services, Hive and Oozie (preferably with Control-M).
