You're right, of course. I apologize. I didn't realize that selecting a
tab below the image list would change the behaviour of something not
contained in the tab area. Perhaps, for intuition's sake, the two tabs
(Masks and Crop) should be moved up, so that the file list would be the
first item with

It works here: Windows and also Fedora.
On the mask/crop tab you need first to switch to crop mode (select crop from
the notebook). Then you can select multiple images. When the mask mode is
active, only a single image can be selected.
