It is always good to download a newer version.
But in this case it is due to that specific enblend version being used on
10.8: it's a know bug introduced by the newer 10.7 and 10.8 OSX versions
due to OpenMP incompatibilties. In the 11.04 dmg you will also find a 10.4
enblend. That one is a bit sl

It is easy to make a "landscape" that works fine for Stellarium - if you have
a modern graphics card.
Simply use Hugin (which we all know and love) to make a nice
4096x2046 equirectangular image, and install, setting type to "spherical".
